This document has been prepared for government agencies and other project stakeholders to use as a ‘toolkit’ for the development of Environmental Management and Monitoring Plans (EMMPs)[1]
Environmental impact assessment (EIA) is a tool that is used to assess and manage individual development projects, with an aim of maximising positive benefits and minimising negative impacts for local communities and their environment.
Promotion of environmental assessment remains an important priority for SPREP, with a target in the organisation’s Pacific Regional Environment Programme Strategic Plan 2011–2015 (Strategic Plan) to develop Pacific-related models for environmental assessment.
