Pacific Island Countries are often constrained by the availability and accessibility of information and data relevant for EIA and Safeguards usage; this limits capacity of national EIA regulators and project developers to properly design and manage projects (establishing national baseline data, reviewing ESIA reports, monitoring E&S performance throughout a project life-cycle). The PLP-ESS training needs assessment and the recent evaluation findings of the first round of regional trainings show preference for training on how to establish effective management information systems to assist with regulatory functions of national EIA agencies. To address this issue, training will be offered to raise awareness of existing knowledge portals that contain relevant information or data for EIA and safeguard management. This includes knowledge portals from SPREP and other PLP-ESS partners.
