Governor Gary Juffa had welcomed the commissioning of the K83 million Divune hydro-power plant as a step in the right direction for Northern in its plan to become a “green” province.
Juffa said the province planned to match the hydro-power capacity with a solar energy facility it is currently working on with an Israeli firm.
“Once this facility is in use, the province can declare itself a green province,” he said.
“Its fuel sources will be purely based on renewable energy rather than fossil fuel which have been proved to be destructive to our environment.”
