A representative from the mataqali of Nabukebuke in Namosi says they prefer sustainable development rather than a development that destroys their livelihoods.
He says in Namosi today, they have the Namosi Eco Retreat and other sustainable development like farming that preserve their land and benefits the villagers as well.
He further says even though they are not well educated with the traditional knowledge that they are born with, they could predict the great devastation that mining will bring to their land.
A representative from the mataqali Nabukebuke says multiple consultations have been done with the Namosi Joint Venture and they have told them that if they agree to start mining, people in Namosi Village and other nearby villages will need to be relocated because they will need to dig up the area to excavate.
