Module 8 Community and Occupational Health & Safety


Regional Training on Environment Impact Assessment, Stakeholder Engagement and Social Impact Assessment in the Pacific. The training ran from 11 November to 3 December, 2020.

Module 8 is a presentation on Community and Occupational Health & Safety delivered by World Officers Dr Nathalie Staelens – Senior Environmental Specialist, and Ms Rosie Davey– Senior Environmental Specialist

Ms Davey draws on her experiences from resource extractions projects (Mining and oil gas) across the world to provide practical examples of the importance of risk mitigation through hazard identification to minimise the impacts of poor safety that can occur during construction and operation of a project.

There are a total of 8 training modules each covering a specific topic relating to EIA, stakeholder engagement and social impact assessment. The first three Modules were delivered by the Environmental Monitoring and Governance Programme of SPREP. The remaining five modules presented by World Bank specialists in SIA, Stakeholder Engagement, Community Health and Safety and other areas relevant to ESIA.
