Register with the Pacific Network for Environmental Assessment

Government officials from SPREP member countries are invited to register with PNEA.

The Pacific Network for Environmental Assessment (PNEA) aims to support government officials and practitioners in SPREP member countries, working in the area of environmental assessment.

PNEA provides assistance with two types of environmental assessment:

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) – a process for identifying and managing a development’s potential impacts on the environment, and the potential impacts of the environment on a development (e.g. impacts arising from climate change). Examples of development projects that may be subject to EIA include a new wharf, tourist resort, airport, renewable energy project, fish cannery, seawall, new road, mining operation or logging operation.

Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) – a higher-level process that can be used in three main ways: (1) to prepare a strategic development or resource use plan for a defined land and/or ocean area; (2) to examine the potential environmental impacts that may arise from, or impact upon, government policies, plans and programmes; and (3) to assess different classes or types of development projects, so as to produce general environmental management policies or design guidelines.

By joining the PNEA you will gain access to a community of practice for EIA in the Pacific, be able to post and participate on the discussion forum to gain insights and share knowledge on EIA, SEA and mitigation measures.
Registered users also have access to the site's searchable archive and will receive regular updates on new Forum topics, upcoming conference and meeting information as well as the PNEA newsletter for updates on EIA and SEA, relevant to the Pacific region.

By completing registration you agree to the terms of service of the site and forums as well as receiving email updates from PNEA. Once registration is complete users will have the option to opt out of specific updates to tailor their feed. After completing the form below you will receive an email with account confirmation instructions.
