SPTO and SPREP release Coastal Tourism Development EIA Guidelines for the Pacific

SPREP in partnership with the South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) have jointly produced a set of Environmental Impact Assessment Guidelines for Coastal Tourism Development in Pacific Island Countries and Territories. I am proud to have been involved in producing these guidelines which will be officially launched at the SPTO Executive Board meeting here in Apia, Samoa on the 4th of October 2018

These guidelines are the first set of sector specific guidelines for the region and follow on from the 2016 Pacific Regional EIA guidelines developed by SPREP in partnership with the Pacific Island member countries and territories and supported financially from the European Union-funded ACP MEA2 project delivered through the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and from the Australian and New Zealand governments. SPREP is also thankful for technical input from partners such as the Asian Development Bank, Melanesian Spearhead Group, New Zealand Association for Impact Assessment, Pacific Community, The World Bank and UNEP.
